What We Do ? { Resource Centre }

Background of the centre: AIM is an organization inaugurated in 1991 with her main focus on the socially, economically and physically disadvantaged, rural and urban community.  In the mean time AIM happen to visit different community of many areas of Pakistan . AIM had meeting with local groups, CBOs, and many other organizations. With this AIM develop small groups in different communities for the expansion of the movement of development. Another reason that AIM Planned to expend her working areas, for this purpose AIM used local resources. AIM always works to achieve sustainable development, and for the spirit of sustainable development, many communities preferred for their local leadership.  AIM always gave importance to people’s opinions. AIM organized meeting with local groups CBOs, COO, and shared with them, on organizational matters. 

With meetings and sharing there are many things are seen. Many organizations discussed that there is need to develop local leadership. Some discussed that new groups must form to develop communities. They also discussed that there is need a regular communication program among organizations for the information and coordination.

The organization discussed that there must be regular communication among all small groups, CBOs, and NGOs for these purposes.

  • Each community has different problems

  • A local group or community based organization mostly have no strength of solution of all problems

They discussed that with the collaboration and coordination of these organizations and groups they will develop in their strengths. With the suggestion of different organization AIM planned with them to start some activities, that can provided them a good time of meeting with different organizations. With suggestion of different organization AIM organized many workshops with many grassroots level groups and organizations.

In this period we develop new groups and small organization for their native communities’ development.

While working with different organizations ,we learnt following lessons

  • Sharing and networking is the important to increase experiences ,information and approach.

  • Aims and objectives will be broadened with the help of sister and network organizations.

  • Capacity building and institutional development is necessary to sustain the community development projects and programs.

AIM is privileged to provide services to the network organizations in the following capacities.

  • Improvement and development of introductory organizational material.

  • Mostly, organizations are unable to present their running activities in the form of reports, AIM helped to prepare reports for the running activities’ presentation.

  • Organization of community meetings, in keeping technical aspects.

  • Needs assessment techniques.

  • Proposal development with the direct and active community participation.

  • Follow-up and responses to the queries or questions regarding to the submitted project.

  • Project implementation, management and evaluation.

  • Project sustainability and conversion of project to the program

  • Report writing and presentation.

  • How a project can be supported as integrated activity?

In keeping the need and demand from the network organizations, AIM took initiative for the resource centre and invested its all possible resources for its preliminary activities like a room, publications, a computer with printer, AV resources and part time resource person.  

Objectives of the Resource Centre

  • To make coordination among grassroots organizations, CBOs, and National organizations

  • To build the capacity of the local groups and grassroots organizations

  • To promote local leadership

  • To develop new groups for the development of their respective communities

  • To extend development work though groups’ formation.

Needs for the strengthen local groups

  • The areas where we have no direct access we can work there through our local groups

  • They have better penetration in their native community

  • Community need community based groups where they get easy approach

  • Their familiarity with community make the development process more sustainable

  • The local groups know the problems of their native communities better ways

  • Promotion of the leadership at grassroots level

Reason for the development of the resource center

With regular training program workshop with the grassroots organizations and meeting with different groups we note the following things;

  • Many organization organized program but remain fail due to technical education

  • There is need of leadership at grassroots level

  • Local groups and grassroots organization need to build their capacity

  • The resources center will work among organization as bridges

  • Organization need such place from where they can get their required information

ð         Computer work facility.

ð         Centralized and field training facilities.

ð         Reference library.

ð         Photo copier facility.

ð         Sitting and meeting furniture.

ð        Digital coverage of meetings and programs.

 

AIM Resource Center has the publications, magazines and journal of national and international organizations about the following topics.

Women in development, Low cost external inputs agriculture, Sanitation, Environmental pollution, Books on children development and child rights, AIDS, TB, Hepatitis, Project writing and report writing, livestock rearing and management and small agro based enterprises.
